ویژگی سخن عطار :


عطار، یکی از شاعران بزرگ متصوفه و از مردان نام آور تاریخ ادبیات ایران است. سخن او ساده و گیراست. او برای بیان مقاصد عرفانی خود بهترین راه را که همان آوردن کلام ساده و بی پیرایه و خالی از هرگونه آرایش است انتخاب کرده است. او اگر چه در ظاهر کلام و سخن خود آن وسعت اطلاع و استحکام سخن استادانی همچون سنایی را ندارد ولی آن گفتار ساده که از سوختگی دلی هم چون او باعث شده که خواننده را مجذوب نماید و همچنین کمک گرفتن او از تمثیلات و بیان داستانها و حکایات مختلف یکی دیگر از جاذبه های آثار او می باشد و او سرمشق عرفای نامی بعد از خود همچون مولوی و جامی قرار گرفته و آن دو نیز به مدح و ثنای این مرشد بزرگ پرداخته اند چنانکه مولوی گفته است:


عطار روح بود و سنایی دو چشم او ما از پی سنایی و عطار آمدیم
